Uncle Toby and the Widow Wadman, Samson Model, c.19th century.
Description
Samson model. A ceramic model of Uncle Toby and Widow Wadman. The figures are 34.5 cm high (including boscage). The ornament is marked on the back with a gilt anchor and intersecting italic 'D' - if this were genuine it would indicate the piece was manufactured at the Chelsea factory of the Derby Porcelain Works between 1769 - 1784 but infact was made by Samson in Paris in the 19th century. The figures represented are very similar to the Copeland model.Accession number
